Tips for maintaining a healthy state of mind during the immigration process

The simple steps to achieve and maintain healthy emotional and mental states during the immigration process:

  • Set realistic goals and work toward achieving them a little, step by step, each day;
  • Search for information about the culture and how the new system works;
  • Ask for help from those around you – develop your support system (family, friends, colleagues, social organizations, church, support groups, meet ups);
  • Help yourself to overcome emotional distress of adaptation – consult with a professional therapist (individual counseling/therapy, group therapy, and support groups).
