Deep Healing Is Possible!

An integrative approach to healing trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional pain.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It has been extensively researched and is widely recognized as an effective treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process and integrate traumatic memories that may have become “stuck” in the nervous system. During trauma, the brain’s natural information processing system can become overwhelmed, causing memories to be stored in a fragmented way. When triggered later, these memories can produce intense emotional and physical reactions as if the past event were happening again.

Through guided processing and bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences so they can be integrated in a healthier way. As a result, distressing emotions and physical sensations decrease, and individuals often develop more adaptive perspectives and beliefs about themselves and their experiences.

Research has shown EMDR to be highly effective in treating trauma and other emotional difficulties. It is recognized by organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
